Miguel and I have a common visual style that reflected itself in the images we captured for "The Woman & the Machine".

A surrealistic piece with a killer ending where colours and characters mix together.

Locations and production designing were very interesting as well as the different characters described in the story, where flashbacks and present time form part of this fascinating concept.

Although I initially wanted this piece to be shot on film, we decided to go for the HD format in the end for a number of different reasons.

We used 35mm lenses and I had a Schneider Classic Soft filter in the mattebox at all times.

Everyone involved in the project was very excited with the end product.

The images posted here are framegrabs from the rushes and I did some color correction in photoshop as a guide to the grade.

The film has recently been awarded Best UK Short Film 2011
